The most commonly used abrasive, especially used for heavy duty grinding on general steels. Made using brown aluminum oxide, it is hard and tough.

Suitable for non-ferrous metals, rubber, plastics, glass, and cast iron. It is also used to grind solid carbide materials. Made using green silicon carbide, it is harder and more friable than black silicon carbide.
